This list is similar to cancers observed in American men. In 2010, the three most frequently diagnosed cancers in the VA health care system were prostate, lung/bronchus, and colon/rectum cancer according to a 2017 study. Nearly 50,000 cases of cancer are reported annually in the VA Central Cancer Registry. Solid tumor cancers involve tissues in the body or organs, like the stomach, breast, or colon. Leukemia and lymphoma fall in this group. Hematologic cancers are diseases that affect blood cells. There are more than 100 different types of cancer.
